Just a quick note…
I fell in love with The Strokes when I first listened to the Room On Fire album shortly after it was released (my music-junkie-of-a-brother introduced me) and since then have continued to fall even more in love with them.
So, fast forward to November 2009 when Julian Casablancas (lead singer/front man of The Strokes) releases his solo project album titled Phrazes For The Young… I immediately fell in love again. I was waiting for this album to come out after I found out he was working on this project. I really love the other bandmates’ (The Strokes) side projects and their bands that have come to fruition, but nothing tops Mr. Casablancas’. The fact that he’s the lead in The Strokes does not have anything to do with it either… it’s just that this album really grabbed me even before it was released. When I heard little snippets and teaser trailers I was like, “Oh goodness, this is going to be soo gooood!” So, when I heard the actual album it captured the rest of my heart. Every element of each song goes together so well in my opinion. This recipe for music was cooked with tender, loving care and it shows. Yum!
P.S. – Here is track #7, “Glass”, which I adore!
